Tell us more about yourself.
Prior to joining IO, I was a financial consultant with Prudential for 6 years. It was a struggle when I first started as everyone was just fighting for a piece of their own pie and no one is willing to guide. Eventually I found my own footing and had what I set out to achieve but that feeling of what I thought was success slowly faded away. Then, It dawn upon me that my career was stagnant and I needed to move out of it.
What inspired you to change?
I started putting myself out there and speak to other peers in the similar industry. In the process of doing so, I chanced upon IO - a dynamic and fast growing organisation that made me realised what I have achieved is just a fraction of what I could do. IO showed me new opportunities that I can explore and and how it can help bring my career to another level.
What were your thoughts before joining IO?
I was in a dilemma, between staying in my comfort zone with a steady stream of income and having to start from the bottom and learn the ropes again. In the end, I decided to go for it and have not looked back since. From the moment I joined IO, I felt a culture of openness, teamwork and continues learning which gave me a sense of belonging in the organisation. The leaders of IO are coaches who ensure our development, while the team members are pacers who encourage and support each other.
Which advice would you give to candidates who are considering to apply a job with IO?
Taking the first step is toughest but also the most rewarding as it opens up the unlimited and an organisation like IO that is always encouraging continuous learning is a place you would want to work.
